Sluggish
But I still update it, just to let you know how things have gone. Gaverstreek Stage race went pretty well. Stage one TJ and I made the very selective front group over the bigger climbs, only to be let down by a group of 10 or so riders getting away just before the finishing circuits, and another small group of riders got away in the lap.The bunch finish wasn't like any sprint I've seen before with about 1k to go people started sprinting so it was a big cluster, I rolled in at 24th. I also had two very close calls in some dusty corners, one ended up causing my teammate TJ to crash... I wasn't to happy about that. Oh almost for got to say it was 80 degrees...
Stage Two was a double stage day, a 10k Time Trial in the AM and a 120K Road Race in the PM. Going into the TT I was GC leader in 24th over all about a minute back, I had to give it my all. Yet again I was reminded how much I hate TT's and how much they hate me. I'm not even sure what place I ended up in, but I was a minute and a half slower then TJ.... He finished 6th.
Stage three... now sitting 38th on GC only two minutes back, anything could still happen. We had 4 big climbs and 3 finishing circuits. I made it over all of the big climbs with the main bunch, with about 30k to go the bunch split and I found my self at the wrong end of the split. The gap went up to 40 seconds to the lead group but we never gave up and it all came back together on the first of 3 finishing circuits, then it was time to get to the front and stay out of trouble. One of the Belgian continental teams had a very good train goign with one to go, Ulrich helped me stay out of the wind and on the back of the lead out, sitting in the top ten guys. Just after the 1K to go banner they started to blow up and that caused the pace to slow, the group went from single file and strung out to a huge swarm... I tried to stay in the top ten guys, but i just kept finding myself getting pushed further and further back so with 500 meters to go I had to sprint up the outside, in the wind to get back into a good position, just as i made it to the front the sprint started. I was pretty much already gassed so I tried to hold on the the spot I had. I ended the stage in 18th, overall I Finished 30th. Not to mention the 60 Riders that dropped out in the last stage....
