Lapham Peak Cross.

Last Sunday was My first cross race in 3 years, at lapham peeak. I race The 1,2's Category, The race was farly small but had plenty of man power, with riders like B. Matter, Marko, P. Ellis, Brandt, Mikey, and some others. Having two of the fastest mountain bikers in the state plus some roadies you know its going to be a good race that won't disappoint . Lining up I didnt know what to expect, my fitness level hasnt been very good or should I say its good but the legs are tired for the long season racing in over 50 races. So Matt And I got a front row start, Matt took the lead me sitting on his wheel to the first baracade section he pulled off and I double hopped the first section puttind about 5 seconds on everybody, from there i just rode my own pace and soon Matt and B. Matter were on my wheel to make the lead group of 3 half way through the first lap with about a 15 second lead over the chase. Few laps go by I continue to ride the baracades as we built up a good 2 minute lead. With about four laps to go I start to wonder how Matt and I could gap Matter. Soon as I to think a spoke in my front "Super Bomb Proof" Mavic Krycirums SL's Broke! I have no clue as to what made it break riding in a grassy section?!?! Soon as I stop to undo my brakes and pull the spoke off Matter attacks and Matt had to follow. I lost about 45 seconds to the two of them. I chase back just as im starting to pull the pair back Matt Had a bad dismount and mount on the run up and was dropped. I caught back to Matt as matter had 30 seconds and attempted to chase. But with no luck, I was smoked from chasing them and didnt have much left. Matt and I just rode in together finishing 2nd 3rd With me giving matt second place points so he can contend for the overall. Not a bad day for The Slingshot Factory Team.
