WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

This race is one I always liked the best, you just never know who will win. Somebody from some small country could walk away with, its crazy. Bettini Finally won a the Rainbow Stripes. He's been sooo close many times in the four years. But the best line I read was in velonews from Robbie McEwen.

McEwen admitted the finish had been tactically chaotic.

"A Swiss guy had set his line going into the corner and Zabel came underneath him and surprised him and he tried to adjust his line and ended up losing a length," explained McEwen. "Then he hesitated and suddenly (the gap was) 50 meters ... and I'm looking at the guys riding away with the world title. It's a shame because I won the sprint of the group easily (to finish fifth) and I could see the World Title just up the street.

NO KIDDING you won the pack finish with ease the race was 30 seconds up the road with 700 meters to go!
