No BIG Hills = Good Race

It seems like staying home last weekend to get in some good miles was just what I needed. After 39th in Iola, 11th at Alpine. I knew I had what it takes to be in the top 5 just finding the legs and getting a good start was the hard part. Well Sunday I found the two things that Ive be having troubles finding. Right from that start I got into the lead group with Jeff Hall, Tristan, Matter, Eppen, Mc Vean, Mike Bushy, AJ, and 4 other dudes . The first lap was very fast with AJ crashing and about 3 others poping off the back of the group with Hall setting the pace tristan was unable to hold his wheel and HAll droped us, then the race was for second. Second and third laps were about the same with eppen attacking while I was at the back of the group and was unable to respond to it so I played the waiting game to see who would go next and id go with them. On the third lap were Hall and Eppen made there attacks, MAtter made his move after the SKi Hut guys did a lot of work to try and bring back Eppen and I followed, I wasnt going to miss another move. The last lap Matter and I worked together for about half a lap gaining time on the SKi Hut guys. Then I started to test Matter's legs with some hard tempo through the single track and I couldnt drop him so I let him pull around me on an open section and rode his pace for about a mile when we hit the next double track, I made my move and attacked him as hard as I could Roadie Style and he didnt respond. I kept the pace high trying to pull the 1.30 time gap to Eppen back but with no water bottles I couldnt do much harder. With about 2 miles to go I was able to see him but just couldnt catch him in time but the gap was down to about 15 Seconds in the end. I was happy with 3rd place Overall seeing I finished 3rd to two of the fastest guys in the midwest!
Race notes Dropped 3 Bottles , stayed upright the whole race!
