WORS # 2 Alpine Valley

was happy with my finish, 11th... thats way better then 39th at Iola

Well I got what I was hoping for this weekend, after the Iola race I was very bummed about my finish. I was hoping to make top ten at Alpine Valley , I was close but I am still happy with 11th overall with all the big guys there. Sadly they didn't perform to well with Doug Swanson blowing up on the first lap, Jeff Hall what looked to me as a broken chain, and Tristan flatting on the last lap in one of the creek crossings. Well I started about 3 rows back due to my 39th at the last race so I figured id just start slow and pick up the pace every lap right from the start I was in about 16th or so and just stayed the same pace for most of the first 3 laps . Going into the last lap I was sitting around 13th with two guys right in front of me, I passed them going up the starting climb and gaped them right away and kept putting just enough time into them so I could just ride in slow and not have to put to much into it (laziness) cuz I knew if they didn't catch me on the long climbs I would easily put time into them on the long down hills goin into the finish (with my mad down hilling skills, I should just be a down hill racer its made made for lazy people) and that I did . I put about a minute on them on the down hill and pulled a nice wheelie across the line for the fans in 11th.
Race notes Tripped on the first lap while try to navigate one of the creek crossings when I stepped into the creek and it was deeper then I thought and slid on both knees totally missing the trail it looked like I was wearing mud knee pads after it dried. Once again trying to cross a tricky swamp/creek/rock crossings I hit a rock with my front wheel sending me off the rocks into mud about calve deep and went over the bars again using my mad bike handling skills saved it by uncliping 1 foot putting it down and taking my hands off the bars and holding my self out of the mud ( imagin doing a hand stand with your bike that's what it looked like ) and thats about it.
